right i am having problems of a quite serious nature at work.
i work on the deli/bakery department of a local supermarket, and one member of the deli team-the supervisor has just come back after time away.
Everyone warned me she was bad but i had not realized how bad.
she is filthy, never cleans, eats behind the deli, places waste in the incorrect bins etc. she is a walking health hazard.
However worst of all she made a joke about a fellow member of staffs stalker issue gesticulating to an unrelated customer, whom i know, in front of other customers. Im worried in a small minded town this could be misconstrued.
my question is this i have a review tomorrow and i am desperate to raise these points. however she may be doing it. Can i request some one else?
All so the management know of her 'problems' and yet they do nothing. i am not a union member, can i still go higher up the management chain and report her to area office?
advice appreciated thanx xx

thanx im being serious. ur not helping me much. i cant tell you which store as it could damage customer relations.
Might be worth being careful what you say for a few weeks until you have established some sort of relationship, then you can start to push on these issues
If I were in your shoes firewatch, I would be contacting your company's Human Resources department (aka Personnel) and letting them know about her lack of hygiene. If that doesn't work or is not feasible, how about the HSE or even your local authority (trading standards department) - I am sure they would like to know about the health hazards you mention....
I agree with factor30 above,

Leave it a few weeks.
Just get on with your job, try to ignore her and when the time comes, report her or have a discreet word with one of the management team who you can trust.

its been a few weeks and its been getting steadily worse. We can only keep up with her untidyness by when she leaves both departments pulling together to clean the place top to bottom checking the dates refreshing stuff etc.
the funny thing is she likes me, she hates and bitches about everyone else but seems to like me??? very often when im talking to her i am being sarcastic but she dosn't pick up on this she thinks im being friendly!
i am going to mention it today at my review as i know now all reviews get sent back to head office, for them to read through. so fingers crossed. I might go and have a mooch on companies website to see if there is an area there where i can put a complaint in.
thanx for your help xx
Just an idea, but can't you make an anonymous complaint? Not sure if it would work!!!
Question Author
it would not remain anonymous for long!
The office girls are gossips and like nothing better than to make other peoples lives hell by letting slip who said what.
por example i asked the manager to be a referee on my job aps in confidence, i only took the job to fund my college course, and before the shift was out every one was coming to me and asking when was i leaving!
The manager knows we have issues with this person but turns a blind eye to it!
If noone at your place of work takes this seriously, i would seriously consder contacting the Environmental Health team of your local council. Explain that you are an employee and you have observed bad hygiene practices but you are being ignored and are worried about being victimised if it comes out.
They may be able to arrange to come and do a "routine" check, or a check on the basis a customer has complained.
Of course if you arent comfortable telling the truth that you work there, you could be sneaky and ask a friend or family member to make a complaint alleging they became ill after eating something they bought at the deli there......

hadn't thought of that one!ew i like sneeky!
Cheers!
I did not have my review on monday, but one of the deli lads has had enough and he is quiting because of this person and he is going to tell the manager what he really thinks!fingers crossed, i nearly walloped her one because i could not get through her thick head that taking the mick out of the stalker situation was not funny!dumb cow!
could you not write to head office saying she is representing your company terribly?
what supermarket is it?
Question Author
i have already said i wont name names, i have thought about regional office, they come in once or twice a month for visits but i may take i straight to the top!
Im going off now so i will not reply till tommorow! cheers guys you have been stars.

hey everyone!
I have some sad news, well it is for me. I could not report her through my review. However one of the deli boys who is a clean clean lad had enough and blew his lid at the manager and quite when the manager had a devil may care attitude. The supermarkets 'clean team' were in last week but the **** forgot his hat so he could not go behind the deli!he could have borrowed mine it was just sat there!
Although i think she is quaking in her boots about me now, she is very chummy with me and most of the time she calls me poppy, not my name, but when she demanded to see my review booklet she used the right name. Best bit about my review was i have been marked down as supervisor material!WOOT!
im off to the local council website now TTFN
