Being paid thro July & August but ...?

My daughter has secured her first primary school teaching job starting in September. They have however told her they will pay her during July and August? - what's the catch???

The Authority's year starts with the financial year.

With teachers, she can ring Unison or any teaching union anonymously to confirm this, as I understand it their salary covers the academic year but it's divided out in twelve equal parts so they're 'paid' for the full year.

Yes it does, Frogge, but a recent question on here and the answers given suggests that the school year runs September to August-end. Good luck to her if she has established this, but I believed that teachers are covered by specific standard contract terms that mean one can resign (or have one's contract terminated) at only 3 points in a year - at 31st December, 30th April or 31st August only. Thus if one has worked the summer term and left, the last pay day is 31st August.
Sounds like she is getting a good deal here.
This does not apply to Supply Teachers who are paid a weekly rate that compensates them for not being paid in the holidays.
