my question is this : Can an employer pay you cash for 2 week trial work and then put you on the payroll if they want you to stay working for them ? thanks Michigan usa here

Employment law is probably different in the UK to the US. I'd guess however that the decision is down to the boss if it's her / his firm.

If it helps, oceanwinds, an employer definitely isn't allowed to do that here in the UK. Of course, people do it anyway...they just have to hope they don't get caught!
