i live in northern ireland and im currently in reciept of jsa. my elderly father lives in leeds and at the moment is very ill. as you would expect i need to go and see him as he seems to be getting progressively worse . problem is i have to sign on while im away. can anybody tell me is there such a thing as compassionate leave for not signing on, or can i arrange to sign on over there.

Have you asked at your job centre? I found the telephone helpline helpful when I was on JSA. Maybe you could apply for Care's Allowance instead of JSA
