If I resign from my job on ill health grounds, will I lose my Employment support AQllowance?

Depends on your circumstances giant.
Employment Support Allowance is for those who cannot or are unable to work due to ill health. If you have to resign on health grounds then the local job centre should be able to advise you further.
Failing that, try to look at www.direct.gov.uk site as there is a wealth of information regarding entitlement to benefits.
