Part Time Worker

Asking this for a friend:

If I want to employ a person to do a few hours work for me (3 initially) what regs do I need to know about? I already have employment insurance because of my class assistants (dog training), but what are my responsibilities re nat insurance, time off etc etc? I want to keep it simple and I need to know how much it is going to cost me in addition to whatever I pay such a person.
