Eligibility for JSA
2 Answers
My nephew has just sat his finals for his degree. He will be returning home within the next month to live with his mum (my sister), and he will actively start looking for work. He had a part time retail job while at uni but won't continue that due to moving home.
My question is this - will he be eligible to claim JSA?
I think he will be but when I last spoke to him he hadn't considered this.
Thanks

If it's CB then he needs to have made sufficient NI contributions to qualify. I doubt he'd have paid enough from his pattime job. Maybe NI contributions are credited by the state while students are at university- he'd need to check. There's no harm in applying
If he wants IBJSA, eligibility depends on household income
