Actually, just an enthusiasm and an interest that one would bring to any prospective employment.  Time was when flight attendants/air hostesses were required to be young and lovely.  That's no longer the case.  Be aware the hours can be demanding, with many 12 to 14 hour days, late nights, weekend duty. The training is rigourous and is difficult in that the language is rife with abreviations and acronyms that are truly different.  As a pilot for many years, I find that the cabin safety crews (currently preferred label) generally like the work, but each stated that is was difficult at the beginning.  Check here for a "chat room" that is visited frequently by flight attendants.  (You'll have to scroll down the list to find the appropriate area).  Good luck!

I get what you're saying about trolley dolleys and the woofs, Clanad, but is it true that there's a lot of 'close contact' between 'cabin safety crew' and pilots?

Dream on, slimfandango... Did you ever attempt an amorous engagement after a 12 to 14 hour day, the van's late getting you to the hotel and the restaurant is closed when the only thing you've had to eat all day is a stale sandwich out of the vending machine?  Really overrated...

Also i reckon the starting salaries for air hostesses in some budget airlines is quite dire.

You have to be over a certain height, 5ft6 I think on most airlines, but less if its a budget airline. Being able to speak a language other than english might also be an advantage.

you have to be between 19 and 46 and also have to be a certain hight wich is between 5ft6 and 6ft5 honest!!!
