what is best money making business i can get into

i want to put money into some kind of business venture, my friend was telling me that scrap metal etc is very good business to get into, im a welder and scaffolder by trade but am out of work at minute, i was toying with the idea of landscape gardening or even a mini market, basically something i can put my savings into and work for myself or with another person, i was also thinking about buying a van/truck and doing removals.

any ideas ?

Roofing/gutters, general property maintenance. Flood your area with flyers/adverts now while weather is favourable. Sub-contract artisans as needed.

Will you do my gutters & paint my windows ?

Man with Van is not a bad idea, but dont limit yourself as removals. If you brand yourself as Man with Van you could be doing removals, deliveries, house clearences, dump-it services, garden tidying and removal etc. Arm yourself with a tool kit and you can do flat pack assembly. Leaflet all the cars in Ikea car park and say you will take their stuff home and build it, save them squashing it into their cars.

All the scrap dealers I have ever known were and are very wealthy people!

There are so many scrap dealers out there now it would be a very competetive market, however you could reasonably expect to get approximately £185-£200 per tonne of scrap. Everyone is at it and everytime you see a skip there is someone in it trying to get their tuppence worth!

I work in construction and we have lockable skips and have an arrangement with a scrap dealer. Any money we get for scrap is halved between a charity and the guys christmas fund!

i was also thinking of a buying a large van, convert it into mobile shop and sell all them pound lines £1 type of mobile shop, also sell ciggies sweets etc. need to get into some sort of work on my own.

A scaffolder will earn more than a man with a van.

do you basically mean become a gypo and collect scrap from households ?
You would need a vast amount of money to buy or open up a new scrapyard.
