Someone who does not want you to complete an application form.  Send your CV's off to adverts who do not say 'contact us for an application form' or people that say 'we will do a CRB check'.

All application forms ask you to declare a record so go for jobs without one of these.  if you declare you dont then your open to be found out but if you are honest then this will go against you too.  There are lots of places that dont do CRB checks.

It depends what your record is for.  It is not impossible to get a job if you have a criminal record - application forms have a space to disclose this.  You don't stand much chance of any work if you are a schedule 1 offender (any sex offences or GBH against a youth).  Like willow said, if the ad clearly states a CRB check will be carried out, they probably aren't going to want to know.

regarding spent convictions, you may not need to mention you have any convictions, even if your prospective employer really wants you too...

You dont have to mention the convictions if :

1.  you go a community service, fine or probation conviction.  You have to declare this for 5 yrs from your court date

2. you had a custodial sentence.  you need to declare this for 7 yrs from your release date

Have a think and see if you can start your own business. Thats what I did. You can get help from local chamber of commerce or banks. there is also an organisation in London that is set up to help offenders start a business - sorry can't remember it's name, if I do I'll post it here.
