Incorrect info on a fit for work statement

I very often receive statements of fitness for work with either incorrect information on, or incomplete information provided by GP's. Does this render the certificate invalid?

In particular, the line....."I will/will not need to assess your fitness for work again at the end of this period" is hardly ever completed by the GP. Does this leave an an employer exposed? And, what legal reponsibility does a GP have to fill this form out correctly and with care?

I can't answer this specific question, but it sounds similar to the problem I had under the old sick note system - when the GP signed "unfit for a week", did that mean that the person could go back to work after a week, or that the GP needed to see them again in a week, to sign them off?
