Could anyone offer any advice regarding which bookkeeping course to study.
Which would be best - manual bookkeeping or computerised bookkeeping, i have looked at a few job websites but none specify either one.
thank you

very few companies will be using manual processes these days, you can buy so many accounting packages to use on the computer.

A bit late, but I'm in the middle of the Open University course. It takes you up to an IAB level 2/3 qualification, and you can study further to get the Professional Certificate in Accounting.
They start you with manual bookkeeping so that you learn the principles, then they introduce you to computerised bookkeeping.

i have been on most of the distance learning companys looking at the courses, the one he enrolled on yesterday is only level 1 bookkeeping and computerised accounts at nightschool college. But he does want to go further so he would like to take another course in june when this one finishes, would you mind tell me what the name of the course you are studying is called, i have been on the open university website but there is quite a few to choose from.
He was all set for studying AAt level 2 and had the interview last week and was told 3 days ago its not running now, so its all been abit of a rush to find another course somewhere else, he was lucky as the course he enrolled on yesterday only had one place left.
thanks for your answer

It's this one: http://www3.open.ac.u...duate/course/b190.htm
It's just a short course, which you can take over 10 or 20 weeks. If you pass then you apply for membership of the International Association of Bookkeepers. You can also go on to study further bookkeeping and accounting courses and the whole lot can count towards a university level certificate, diploma or degree if you want it to.
Sadly the fees are about to go up for new students, but you can spread the cost and you sometimes get financial assistance depending on your circumstances.
I've done quite a few courses with the OU now, and I have a degree and a diploma in music. I can certainly recommend it.
