Hey...just wondered if anyone has had to deal with putting together a grievance before?! Ive been advised by HR and ACAS to do this for bullying and harrasment from my line manager...my union membership does not kick in until December so I am all on my own!! Any comments/thoughts/experiences welcome....

What? - HR in your organisation are telling you raise a grievance (I before E except after C). Unbelievable. Why the heck aren't they intervening and discussing the nature of your allegations of the behaviour of your manager?
I agree with buildersmate. Have you raised your concern with HR? What did they say- I'd be surprised if they had simply said "raise a grievance". Did they investigate it at all?
Are you sure they just don't want you to put your concerns in writing to help with the investigation

...... plus (of course) greivance (allegedly).
One wonders why some OPs bother to ask questions if they never really wanted suggested questions.
If you've just joined a union they should help you with a grievance but they won't allow to to benefit from legal advice for an issue which arose prior to membership. Give them a call, they should help.

Hey guys, thanks for your responses...well I didnt know what to do with the situation that was going on so I called HR anonymously at first and since then things have got worse so I have informed them whom I am etc. They suggested that I try to approach and talk to my line manager...however given the circumstances I do not feel that I am able to do this. So they said that the next step is to raise a grievance. I asked them if they would initially just look at my supervision notes etc to see if they are appropriate (as I do not think they are) but they stated that this wasnt really something they could do and that they have to remain impartial...they advised me how to raise a grievance and what to do/how to word it etc and made it clear that they could not lead this process and had to remain impartial. I am not keen to do this but feel that it is my only option...I would be happy just to put my complaint in writing but am concerned that it wont be taken any notice of having been advised to raise a grievance. I have also spoken with ACAS and colleagues who given the circumstances have informed me that a grievance is the most appropriate route.

You sound like you've made money out of it. Or is it just a sideline?
