My mum and dad moved out to the US when I was 10, due to dad's job, it was so much fun, just for 2 years, but what an experience to have. Similar enough to feel familiar but different enough to be exciting, so many places to visit over the whole country.
I went back over easter and had such a good time. It is a bit of a paradox though, I know it is a real Brit thing to say Americans are annoying, but boy I reckon the middle classes have a better quality of life over there. I really hope I get the chance to live over there for a while sometime during my career.
Think that you should go for it, afterall your family are going to be there with you and whats the worst that can happen? - u have to come back here to live - but at least you tried something different and gave it a good go!
I know its a bit cliche but you do only live once and ur a long time dead so just have a bash! grab every opportunity you get cos I think you only regret the things you havent done and who knows where it may lead you
