Should I move?

Ok guys heres the question. I have got the chance to move to USA with the family as my wife has an opportunity for a job. I am highly paid bored frustrated and generally unsatisfied with my current job. Should we jump and chance it or stay with the nice comfortable life here?

Go for it!!! What an opportunity if you are bored with your existing job anyway. On a serious note, I would say that if you can afford to make the move & your wife does actually want the job she has been offered then you should go otherwise you may regret letting the opportunity pass you by. Good luck whatever you do :-)

Definitely GO!  My mum and dad moved out to the US when I was 10, due to dad's job, it was so much fun, just for 2 years, but what an experience to have.  Similar enough to feel familiar but different enough to be exciting, so many places to visit over the whole country. 

I went back over easter and had such a good time.  It is a bit of a paradox though, I know it is a real Brit thing to say Americans are annoying, but boy I reckon the middle classes have a better quality of life over there.  I really hope I get the chance to live over there for a while sometime during my career.

Yep go!  I travel to the US a couple of times a year to visit friends and despite the usual negative press - only in America etc - I love it. By and large the people are great and more than happy to help newcomers settle in! And its not like you can't come back if things don't pan out.

Go - USA is very open - you'll find yourself a job as quickly as you want to. I was in the same boat many moons ago (a chance to move but from Ireland to Switzerland). All I can say is that almost 20 years later, I'm still in Switzerland and only suffered pangs of regret in the first few weeks......just go. As others have pointed out, the US is much better than the media and politicians would like us to believe. Bush is a bloody pain but there are at least still 220 million decent people over there!

Think that you should go for it, afterall your family are going to be there with you and whats the worst that can happen? - u have to come back here to live - but at least you tried something different and gave it a good go!

I know its a bit cliche but you do only live once and ur a long time dead so just have a bash! grab every opportunity you get cos I think you only regret the things you havent done and who knows where it may lead you

I agree though, go!  I'm sure you will be missed by friends and family though, but they'll now have the excuse they always wanted to go to the US - to visit YOU! :-D

I wouldnt need asking twice, there are more opportunities for you out there and being an Englishman could be beneficial to your career in America. Go for it and dont look back.

My parents moved to America when I was 12 for 4 years. I had the time of my life, and loved every second. I say you should definatly go. There will be things you miss - english bread, heinz baked beans, driving on the right, cadburys chocolate, and your local, however, you will miss America even more when you leave. It is also really great for travelling, especially with kids - you can do Disney, all the national parks, Hollywood, Niagara Falls, plus all the big cities, NYC, LA, etc. Life is too short to be unsatisfied in your job anyway. You should go for it.
