Just off to the Job Centre. Irritating, as I've been promised temporary work but no start date as yet, so I've not been looking for other work very hard. My 'looking for work' jobsearch diary is therefore a bit sparse.

At least you will have your NI Stamp paid whilst signed on at the Job Centre.
Hope you get a worthwhile job soon

Having worked all my life till redundancy in August, it's been an eye opener. None of the other claimants look as though they're driving Mercs and going on holiday all the time (as the Daily Mail would have us believe).
Even though you've the chance of temporay employment, you must still be actively seeking employment. Folk are expected to take more than two steps a week to look for work and there are a fair few different actions that count as a step. If there's a doubt, it'll be referred for a decision and you'll not be paid until a decision is given.
I gave up filling in those diaries ages ago. Nobody has ever asked to see to see them anyway!

Yes, Corbyloon, I am aware of that. Hopefully won't need to return to the lovely Job Centre again - temp work's coming my way, just waiting for medical clearance now in case my leg's falling off.
Chris, no-one needs to fill in the log, a verbal report of steps taken is enough.
TheCorbyLoon:
I've always found that muttering the words 'internet', 'newspapers' and mumbling something about applying for something or other seems to be sufficient ;-)
They checked my book every week and it was usually always the same. Check local paper, check DirectGov, phone about some job (sometimes). Glad I don't have to do that anymore.. .
Chris, it's not unknown for folk to have their JSA stopped when they have been doing the same as they have been doing for many weeks previously. If one advisor accepts the steps are reasonable it does not mean that when similar steps are taken in a subsequent period, a different advisor and more importantly a Decison Maker, would also agree.
