now we have had the special games for the disabled can we now have employment for them where they don't have compete on a level playing field

The biggest problem i have seen with some disabled people getting around, is our London public transport system, where large parts of the underground do not have good enough access for wheelchairs. And bus drivers who do not treat wheelchair users with any kind of priority, if the spaces are full with prams.
Sport is one thing -'Faster , higher ,stronger' etc.. But the workplace is more about the ability to do the job at hand and do it properly and consistently. I am sure the majority of workers with disabilities prefer the mainstream workplace.
That is not to say I agree with the cutbacks for places that offer work for the more disabled who find mainstream employment a struggle.

Yes- the issues around the closure are difficult. The report was written by- or at least its conclusions were supported by- a respected Disability campaigner, I recall. However I know other campaigners disagree and I do feel a little uncomfortable about it myself. I know that in education there has been fairly successful move towards inclusion rather than separate schools for those with disabilities
