I currently work for the company my brother owns with another guy (who I'd consider a friend).
In short, I can't cope with this job any more. It's too stressful. I'm suffering from migraines, which seem to happen more often then not while I'm at work and my Doc said she wanted to sign me off for a while, but that's just not realistic (and would help nothing).
I am now actively searching for other jobs but I don't know how to broach the subject with the lads. I obviously don't want to just say, I've got a new job, see ya! but it could take months for me to find another one and whilst they would need me here for a bit to train a new person, they couldn't afford to be paying two staff for the same role for any length of time.
I really don't know what to do. I don't want to let them down, or pee them off or make them feel like I'm giving them the run around but it's not really like a 'normal' job where you give your required notice and just leave.
I'd sit them down and explain that the stress is making you unwell.
Is job-share an option for you and the Company?
Your health comes first and they might not be aware of how you are feeling and would probably be horrified at themselves.
Thanks, forgotten I'd asked this but it's still relevant.
By job share do you mean someone else in the company do my job a bit? If so, no. The rest are lads and all fitters who don't have the first clue about anything I do.
The accountant is coming in for a meeting soon and I'm thinking of just bringing it up then considering it's basically so he can discuss the cock ups I've made with bosses.
Job-share sounds a great idea. If it takes the pressure off and you feel better, carry on. If, after a few months, the job-share isn't working you look for a new job and the sharer is ready trained to take over.
