Why does the government always rattle on about its desire to get 16-25year olds into a job but doesn't mention people outside of this age group? Don't older people matter? Isn't it a concern that anyone is unemployed no matter what age??

I suppose it's because if people are unemployed for long periods at an early age:
- they become reliant on welfare
- they could become almost unemployable for ever
- they are more likely to turn to drugs, crime etc
- they pass on their values and life of unemployment to their children.

People like me who become unemployed in their 50s at least have some skills and can probably be of some use in society as a worker, carer for families or volunteer and probably have some money and property to fall back on
I agree Funkyrich, It's always about the youngsters. I mean, I'm 39 and I feel like I am be on that heap, forgotten about. Recently, I see more and more apprenticeship vacancies that are set up for the younger age. We ALL need a job!
