put up or persevered with.
Going on the thread about watching a tv drama programme because of the writer, review. To follow it for weeks and then come to the end and realise what a waste of time. Do you do that, read a book, or see a film, perhaps something else, and wished you hadn't bothered, any examples?

i did watch Dancing on the Edge, waste of time...
Yes em, that film 'The English Patient' vastly over rated imo.
Was it em, I didn't watch it but I thought that it would have been pretty good.
Question Author
yawned then fell asleep long before the end at that film, Ralph Fiennes is rather wooden in it i thought.
Yes he was em.
Question Author
anything else, i have read some decent books but also some turkeys, got to the end and didn't understand or it left it open?
Question Author
absolutely hated Dan Brown Da Vinci code, got to the end and wondered quite why i didn't throw it in the river.
my family!!!
I've done that with television programmes and films. We watch and when the end comes, we look at each other wondering what it was all about. Sorry, can't remember any titles - they are all highly forgettable I suppose.
Made myself give up sugar in coffee over 20 years ago - tasted dreadful at first, finally got used to it now sugar in coffee tastes dreadfull.

In terms of books ' 5 people you meet in heaven' - some books deserve never to be put down, they deserve to be thrown away violently! - Wish I hadn't persevered the cloying sentimantality made me feel ill for a week!
If something doesn't grab me quite quickly then I stop watching/reading. However, if something does grab me and I get hooked then I become obsessive and buy box sets and watch every episode or every book in a series that I have become attached to (happens a lot with my nordic noir stuff).

The only thing I don't do it in is films really, I guess that's a small amount of time compared with the hours I will invest in something that I really like.
We watched the Hurt Locker last night mainly beacuse of the hype, not really the type of film we like. It was awfull, no point, no direction and not even very good acting.

I couldn't be bothered to watch the end but OH is one of those who HAS to see how it turns out even if its pants. Know what you meam :-).
The recent series, "American Horror". It started quite well but got steadily worse, although we just had to persevere to see how it ended, and how they explained everything.

They bl00dy well didn't, although they claimed to. Utter drivel.
I generaly give any show 2 episodes if the boat don't float by then I just don't watch anymore.

I tried with Lost because my wife liked it, and watched all the way to the end, I gave up after 5 episodes.

The new Beauty and the Beast was done by the 2nd ad break & The Following nearly got to the end of the whole first episode.
Agree about the Following, had been avidly waiting for the series to start and haven't bothered since 1st episode, same with Vegas. at the other end of the scale I endured House because OH and daughter liked it and now I'm utterly hooked, Hugh Laurie is now sexy.
Every christening I've ever been to.
Titanic, Lord of the Rings in books and films, Da Vinci Code because of Holy Blood and Holy Grail.
I felt like that about the film Eyes Wide Shut. We sat in the car afterwards and said "What was that all about"?
Lord of the rings, both the book and the films.
Prudie - Do you watch The Mentalist? Its just like if they caught Red John.

I have tried to read the start of Game of Thrones 3 times but I can't get past the first 2 chapters.
