sickie
How do I pull a sickie convincingly on Monday?? What are the tried and tested best routes and should I involve Mr Sunflower in the dreaded 8.30am phonecall? Please note I am not one to do this as a rule, just that there is somewhere else I'd much rather be on Monday.

Please don't make it anything highly infectious ! The news will filter round that you are off with plague and it gives a lot of anxiety to some workmates, when am I going to catch it sort of thing ? And don't moan and groan when you phone in.
Best thing though, is to be straight and ask outright if you can take a duvet day or unpaid leave, save you the stress of lying on Monday morning.
But hang on, don't you have any annual leave left to take ? Seems a bit odd to have used up all your allowance this early in the year.
Silly Moo I can empathise etc, etc; I've been there too. This is my career choice now and it works for me (and as you can probably tell I have never pulled a sickie in my life.) Like many I have missed sports days before - I ain't going to this year. You sound sceptical; not sure if you meant to.
By the way the holidays more than make up for the wages I take home every month.
I'll do my best to not REALLY get sick; thanks for the concern. x
Duh it doooo easy, just say you have heat stroke. You were out all day sunday, in the sun, and then it got to you later in the evening. I have had heat stroke before and man was I ill. I was sat out in back garden having my late lunch with a glass of wine. I stayed out for about 3 hours, and I had my back to the sun for most of it.
I was then laid out for about 48hours. Everytime I sat uo I had to lay back down flat. I was all dissorientated and dizzy, and was just being sick all the time. I had a wet flannel over my forehead for ages, and I was just buring up. You use this excuse and your made. You dont have to be nice and brown, because you had your back tyo the sun.
Here's the technical bit... Your hypothalamus is sittuated at the back of your head/neck. This is what regulates your body temp. If it heats up too much, you get sun stroke/heat stroke. You pass out, and feel like crap for days....groan...
Happy pretend suffering x
just tell your boss, or better still, someone else if you can, that you are suffering from stress/anxiety/depression/panic attacks and that you can't come in because you have an an (emergancy) appointment to see your doctor that morning (trust me, I work in a doctors surgery, its always a good one lol,).
Or if you have children, just use something along of they are ill/person who looks after is ill/car trouble, etc, and is no-one else you can get to look after them at such short notice.
