well, its confidential information, but crb, ask employer .
I'd expect your employer would tell you this. Was a CRB check done when you were appointed, bednobs?

i am asking FOR my emloyer who is dithering a bit
the employer doesn't know ? geez oh. if they are paying for it , get it done it may be useful for the future for you.
CRBs (or the new quivalent) can be for people accessing sensative information. If I were the employer in this situation I would do one!!!
"The positions listed in this guide represent the professions, offices, employments, work and occupations that are known as the exceptions to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and eligible for DBS checks"

I thought CRBs were for people working with children or vulnerable people.

Anneasquith - they are not transferable, if I got one today and then started a new job next week, I would need a new check (as I might have done something I shouldn't have in the intervening period).
I didn't know that sher.
or accessing information about children and vulnerable people sherrard
No, you don`t. You need a CRB if you are working with vulnerable people or you need to be security cleared in a sensitive area (for example airside at an airport) You don`t need it to process data.
You used to need one for each job.Not sure if that is still the case. I know a man who had 3 at the same time.
1 in his position as school governor ,
1 as he was a trainer in a boxing club for under 16s, and one as he was a local councillor and had to visit old peoples care homes.
If your Employer is not bothered then why are you? I thought these checks were to weed out 'undesirables' shall we say and to protect them & the patients.
You know you are a good & genuine person so I don't see what the problem is.
bednobs, I don't think you do.
I don't think you need one either, you have no actual contact. The data protection act is the one to worry about, not a CRB check.
