haha mispelt calculating, sorry.

Also, can a person claim benefit while working these hours ?
£1191 - £1452 per month - Total / 12

The hours are irrelevant if salaried per year
sorry i've misunderstood

15 hours of a 37.5 hour week would be
£476 - £581 per month
He means 'pro rata', Mass_Hysteria.
don't know about benefits, sorry
Btw, I think you have to work a minimum of 24 hours to be entitled to Tax Credits.
I know now daffy - recalculated ish
14294/12 = £1191 per month. You'd need to deduct income tax/NI etc from that.

It's good pay for 15 hrs a week.

However you don't say whether the annual salary is the actual salary for 15 hours pw, or the equivalent full time salary.

If the latter, then you need to know the full time hours. You'd need to divide the salary by the full time hours, then multiply the result by 15 for the annual p/t salary. Then you simply divide that figure by 12, viz (assuming full time is 37 hours):

14294/37= 386.32
386.62 x 15 = 5794.86
5794.86/12 = 482.90 - the monthly amount - and if you have no other income then you wouldn't pay tax on it either.
