Help With Travel Costs

Will the Job Centre help with travel costs? My son has been told he has to attend an interview which involves a round trip of 46 miles. The cost will be over £5 and he has no income at all.

Good result. I just hope the phone call didn't end up costing you close to the £5 figure. I don't agree with the DWP using these 0845 numbers.

Thanks factor fiction, he has access to NHS as he is a UK national and I can feed and keep him. It just seems unreasonable to make him travel all that way just to register when there is a local office 4 miles away. Some people must be suffering because of this requirement and it seems unfair to me. I suspect it's to make people not register to massage to figures for government propaganda
Thanks again, everybody. My son contacted the JC in the city and was told if he went to our nearest town (8 miles round trip) they would calculate the cost of his journey on the cheapest mode of transport and he has done that and they have given him £5.60 for his journey to the city tomorrow. After that he has to sign on at our local JC once per fortnight which is fine. We're hoping that he will get a job soon.
