Job decisions!
I have applied for two new shops opening up soon, one i want more than the other they will let me know next week. The other will let me know tomorow do i still take this job in the mean time?? I dont know what to do please help

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.As an employer, I can tell you, if you came to work for me, then a few days later said, 'actually I want to go for another job', I'd be pretty p****d off, I might even contemplate contacting your new employer and telling them what you had done, making you seem unreliable, and as if you'd leave at a moments notice. The correct way of doing things would be to tell the first employer that your waiting to hear from the second employer, if you are offered the job, and ask if you can let them know in a few days. They may let you or may ask for an answer immediately, in which case you'd have to make your mind up what you'd rather do.
Ignore Sistar comments - Take the first job offered - I presume as with most new contracts whilst on probation there is a 1 week notice period for either side.
Just annouce if you are offered the other job 'that this is not working out I will be leaving at the end of the week' dont even mention the other job. As contacting your new employer to bad mouth you unehtical and almost certainly illegal and against the DPA.
Have to agree with sistar, trust me, it takes alot of time and effort to do an induction with a new employee, plus a health and safety induction plus till training, plus things like rotas and uniform, badges etc, will all be ordered ready for the starter, if the new starter leaves after a week or so, that leaves a department instantly in a mess, other staff have to cover, the manager has to re-advertise, re-interview and then do another induction. When you have to be on the shop floor 90% of the time, it is not easy to fit in the induction or training, the customer is always there interupring you! This happened to me, and in retail, you are on such strict wage budgets and staffing hours, the 4 hour Sunday girl is as important a member of your team as the 38 hour supervisor, retail is a fast moving high pressure industry and time wasters help noone.
What would be an idea is to ring the second company and let them know the situation and ask if any decisions have been made, as you have had an offer (if u get it), then you will have a better idea what the possibilities are.
