Apart from becoming an architect, is there another way to learn how to draw plans for small house extensions, or bathrooms/kitchens? In France I believe they have "geometres".

Okay, first of all a Draughtsman would be easily suited to draw such things but not qualified to design them, if that answers your question? For the design that would be the job of an architect. However an Architectural Technician would be able to both design and draw these details in particular, due to their simple nature and the technical knowledge technologists are required to learn. Due to the protection of title that Architect's have though Architectural Technicians are not allowed to advertise a design service, but can be approached by a client to do so if they so wish. Hope this helps ^^
