Well I am not sure where you live, but you need to join everything you can .. Drama Group at school, Amateur Dramatics group in your local town etc. etc. and if you are near a stage school then find out when they hold auditions.  You could also have some private lessons although they might be pricey.  You could also have a look at this site www.lamda.org.uk  and find out if there are any teachers near you as you can take exams which will help set you on the path.   Also try buying (you might have to order it) The Stage magazine.   When you are famous you can send me a fiver !
Start small if I were you. Join your local youth theatre. I am in one at the moment, its great fun and you meet loads of new people! Build up your CV and get lots of experience. If you're really keen then get an agent that can look out for roles for you. It will be tough but if thats really what you want then go for it! Sorry to sound old for a moment (all of my 16 years) but I also think you should wait until your a bit older, do amateur stuff but dont turn professional just yet!
Going with the 'start small' idea, you could have a look and register with www.beonscreen.com , they will email you regularly with new shows and 'extras' etc offering you the chance to apply before they advertise.

Hi Jeni

The BEST thing you can do is get yourself a copy of CONTACTS http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0953921050/qid=1126132605/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/026-9413516-0470012

It's a reference book containing all the contact details for agents, tv companies, etc. There used to be a special Agents for Children and Teenagers section too, so I'm sure there still is. Keep acting, maybe join a club or amateur group if you haven't already, and if you or your family can afford it, get some good professional photos done. Write a nice, not-too-begging letter and send a photo to the agents listed in Contacts. I got a lot of feedback when I did this, and mine was rubbish and an awful un-pro photo too! Also as lady_p_gold said The Stage www.thestage.co.uk newspaper comes out every Thurs and has lots of auditions in it.

Good luck and keep us updated - don't give up if you really want it :-)

you could try and get into a drama school, I've been trying for a couple of weeks and it looks as if I may have a place in the near future

but if you are ever in the west yorkshire area, you could try writing to "where the heart is"
I have been in it 6 times so far, as it is sometimes filmed at my old junior school
