Early Years Provision

Hi,

I am just wondering if there are any early years managers on the forum that can answer my questions please?

I have read about the ratio of adult to children for early years settings and have just about figured out that it is 1 adult to 8 children.

Discounting the manager who should be level four or above the staff should be --1 at level three and at least half the others at level 2

So if you have say 20 children there should be 1x level 3, 1 x level 2 and One other that could perhaps be an unqualified volunteer.

This might seem a daft question but
What happens if one or more of the children need to go to the toilet? How can one of them leave the room to take them to the loo and still be in ratio in the setting?

I think the staff ratio covers the nursery environment. I assume the toilet is within the confines of the main area i.e.not in the next building, and therefore the staff member is not leaving the nursery, so don't think oit would affect staff ratios. This is an educated guess, not definite.
