I would love to work in a bar in california when im 18 im still 16 but it would have to be the kind like in coyote ugly is there such a thing?

I believe that under California Law that the minimum age of a person working in a bar, specifically on
the portion of any premises which is primarily
designed and used for the sale and service of alcohol
for consumption on the premises, is 21.

u will also have to bear in mind that although these bars look a lot of fun there is a big difference between hollywood bars where everyones sexy and laughing and the real thing, and also a huge difference between being in a bar like this and actually having to work in one. It isnt always fun when u have a manager harrasing u cos u arent getting all the empty glasses, pouring the drinks so quickly u dont get to see much of the partying going on, and stink of every drink on the menu by the end of the night.

Having said that, it can be a lot of fun if u do enjoy that kind of work and u find a fun place to work from the dozens thats not so fun

Hate to say it but you will have virtually NO CHANCE of legally getting a bar job in the US any time soon. British citizens are only likely to be able to get a Green Card if they posess a skill deemed to be in short supply by the country. Bartending does not fall into this category.

Dont be too disheartened though. There are bars of all sorts in every corner of the world, if its the type of work rather than the location that interests you.

I believe  Coyote Ugly is actually based on a real bar of the same name.  In all honesty it's probably little more than a glorified strip bar.  Having worked (as a barmaid) in a lapdancing club in the UK, I'd actually recommend it, as long as you're open minded.  You get good tips and can have a great laugh with the girls.  As long as you can handle a few sleazy men you'd be fine.
