Hi There
I have received my P45 from my previous employer but the box in 'total pay to date' and 'total tax to date' are nothing in there. No any value at all. I never received a P45 like that. Asked HR and they said my P60 will show the value which I haven't received yet. Should I keep pressing the company to put it right and send me the correct P45 with the right value in those boxes? I gave my P45 to this company when I started with them.

Thank you for any advice.

If you left your employment after the end of the 2014/15 tax year (i.e. after 5th April), and you'd already received all of your pay prior to the end of that tax year, then your P45 (which refers to the current tax year) will correctly show no tax or earnings through simply leaving the boxes blank (which is what HMRC prefers to entering '0' or 'Nil').
Your P45 is for the current tax year to show your next employer how much you have earned so far this current tax year. A P60 is a summary of the previous tax year. A P45 is only valid for a short period of time and is virtually useless now all companies have links with HMRC when payments are made.

I left the company on 13 Mar 2015, before the end of tax year 2014/15
So your P60 (issued at the end of the tax year) will show exactly the same as a P45 would have done (if it was issued correctly on, or shortly after, 13/03/15).

i.e. you don't need your P45.
