What age do you need to be, to be a bus driver...?

Hey all! Just wondering what age you need to be a bus driver.

I have been told 18 with a restricted licence. But also been told 21 to be a driver...!

i am not trying to put you off but i was a bus driver for five years and it was the worst job i have ever had .if i was you i would buy an all day ticket for the buses in your area and ride the bus between 0730 and 0900 then ride again later 1530 so that you are on a bus where you know it will pick up school kids after that ride the bus after 2200 on a friday and saturday ,make sure it is the last bus to a destination ,sit as close to the driver as you can and make a note of the abuse he gets and then have another think about being a bus driver .of corse you may have the benefit of a screen or a cage around you as a driver which i didn't also i had no mobile phone or radios to contact anyone so of course it may be better now .i think you have to be 21 but to be honest i have forgoten.best of luck to you jacko50

You have to be 21 if the bus holds more than 8 passengers

It probably depends on the bus company, have a look at the website of the main bus operator in your area and look at their careers section. Good luck!

To gain your PCV you have to hold a PCV provisional licence. You can obtain this at 18 pass and drive a bus at 18... But the most you can travel is 50 km radius from you place of work IE the garage where the bus is kept. this restriction applies until you reach the age of 21
