Don't know how old you are but are you approaching retirement?  Many company final salary pension schemes base your pension on the average of your last 3 years salary so if you reduce your hours and salary during this period your pension will also be reduced. So check with your company pension staff on this point before you leap.   But if reducing your hours reduces your stress and improves your health, you will have to weigh one up against the other.
I don't know your circumstances, but check out the working tax credits side of things (and children's tax credit).  If you still do 30 hours+ a week depending on your wages you may well be due WTC and it may mean you are more or less just as well off as you were before.

My Mum had to go part-time when my Nana was terminally ill.  However, she didn't go part time in the job she had at the time, she moved to a new, part time, job.  This probably isn't the same as your plan tigerthecat.  It's taken my Mum years to regain the sort of job satisfaction she had before, but that may be because of the job change, rather than the hours cut.

If you're doing it to spend more time with your children (which you may or may not have, I don't know! :-) ) then go for it - and claim all the WTC and CTCs you can!  :-)

I used to work 4 days/ 32 hours a week a couple of years ago - it was brilliant.  It really is superb especially if your job is quite stressfull.
Do it! Life is too short! Nobody says on their death bed "I wish I'd spent more time at work"!! Just make sure you do something fun and valuable and enjoyable on your day off, so you are making the most of it. You can always go back to being full time again if you don't like it.
