They concentrate solely on personal attributes rather than product knowledge. You need to fit into thier idea of what makes a good salesperson. The day consisted of various activities (team and individual). They even expected you to converse with company recruiters in your lunch break and observed you from a distance as you interacted with other applicants.
At the end of the day the group (28 in my case) were split into 3 groups - those that were to be offered a position - those to be assessed further and those that were to be turned away. I was in the last. But I am glad I didn't get the job anyway - I had big reservations.
They expect quick-mindedness, confident social skills, a pre-prepared personal speech, very smart dress and the stamina to last the whole day!
Good Luck!
I am currently a Pareto Law graduate. The assessment day (as already described) is very intense, however it does help because the jobs they have on offer are extremely demanding. If you fail the process it doesn't mean you won't be a great sales person but it does mean you wont be put in a job that you cant mentally handle.
Pareto are really quick too, I was in the middle group (we didn't go for further assessment) which means that within a day I was offered several interviews and by the end of the week I had a new job. The training is also very good, especially if you have never worked in sales before.....it's also a great chance to meet others like yourself and have a good time.
If you fancy sales I would say have a go.......if you have doubts don't apply for an assessment day as your doubts will show out on the day and would be a waste of 7 hours.
