Ok this may sound familiar but i am a VERY poor student with bills to pay and need a job FAST. I am in london so i shouldnt struggle. I got 30 quid to my name with bills of thousands waiting to be paid (What a great decision uni was eh?). Do any of you know where i can get a job soon that pays well (If such thing exists!)?

telesales.  Horrible, soul destorying but normally a good pay and ok hours.  Check about for the likes of BT, kitchensales etc, you might find them in the local paper.  Alternatively get into your local JobCentre/tempting agency and take the first thing they offer you.  Good luck!

Catering work too - that pays weekly, and pays well.

I've done exactly the same thing, except thankfully my debt's in an interest free overdraft!

I'd suggest signing up with lots of agencies.  That way, when your finals come round, you won't find yourself trying to get out of contracts to free up time!

Oh, and temping as a secretary pays usually about 2/hr more than waitressing, but of course it's harder to get the odd day here or there.

Obviously the other thing, that sucks, is to stop spending!!!  If it helps, I have an overdraft of 1500 that's maxed, and 15 to my name til Friday... and I finished my masters in August!  :-( :-)

Yes, telesales ... you can get jobs that start at about eleven and you get paid commission on anything you sell above a certain amount.  I never believed that people buy from cold calling but they do !!!
11 !?!?  /hr!?!  Christ!! WOW!! I was paid only 6/hr - musthave been ripped off! :-(
During my university I supported myself with two part time jobs, both nice little earners, firstly I worked at my Students Union (took the course to be a team leader so was paid 7.10p/h - about 2p/h more than your bog standard bar job in a pub), This was also a winner because I got meals on duties so saved on buying food. Secondly I worked for the Bodyshop - the wage was rubbish but there was a sales related bonus so if you like cosmetics and can talk to people then get a shop job thatpays commission. Good luck, i left university 2 years ago, with debts totalling 20k. I can now finally see the end of the tunnel.
oh and i should add that i got loads of free samples from Bodyshop so for the best part of 3 years spent no money on girly lotions and potions.
