English V American Education
7 Answers
Having spent 40 years teaching in primary schools I am very concerned about what is happening in education. In an American chat show it was stated that in tests or examinations a grade was allocated to each subject so that a pass mark eg B, C or D was determined..However if a score at a higher level was reached it would still be recorded as that pass grade. This means that there is no incentive for a pupil to try to reach a higher mark. Is this making pupils work to a common level with no incentive to do their best? Is this happening in our schools?
