When I was in today I couldn't believe the amount of men working there - about 20 and 10 women. Just standing about. literally and idly too

I know they would be involved in lifting heavy equipment etc but people don't buy everyday.

Also what do 9 receptionists do in a doctor's surgery - they take calls do a small bit of paperwork connected to the calls. but after that - what?

When I was a typing manager I had a pool of 22 of women - some nice and some *** and life was hard but as soon as I walked into the office - I never stopped until I dropped and on my way home My day was full.

I don't think staff are buoyancy are willing or something. If somebody else will do it - that's ok by me - I think that's the attitude.

The lady with me today couldn't get the security nut off the headphones. Another colleague took them off who still proceeded to say - I shouldn't be here. I looked at the vast building and saw 25 staff. Wondered where she was going. Think the staff do genuinely feel they the "bees knees".

I've always found Currys/PC World staff very helpful.
I had always assumed that John Lewis would give a partial refund if you found the same item cheaper elsewhere, rather than drop all prices.

With Currys, they seem to be clueless. As was said earlier, hovering around when you're just looking, then disappearing.

items have to be in retail outlet within 8 mile radius and the service /return package for white goods is included in a comparison
Up here what is now John Lewis used to be called Bainbridge's and I still refer to it by that name. I remember that they never used to open on Mondays so the staff got a full day off instead of two half-days.
I was looking for a fridge in Currys and saw a sign saying free delivery if you were happy to wait six weeks. I wasn't desperate for a new fridge so said I'd wait six weeks. The girl said, 'Oh, you'll have to come back and order in six weeks then.' Really?? Eejit! I bought a fridge somewhere else.
still close Monday here Jack
Lol...Jo.

I've ordered all my recent goods from JL and they were all delivered within a week.
Seems a strange way to organise a work rota at JL. Do the staff get Sundays off?
Anyway, surely they can organise it so that everyone gets a whole day off?
just checked.. open Mondays here now...!! weren't last time I went in on a Monday ! suppose it is outdated now Sunday is a trading day.. Monday gave a 2 day closure then..
They are closed, or used to be, Sunday and Monday to give staff two consecutive days off. The days of half-day closing seem to have long gone.
Wed and Sat half day seems a thing of the past !
I went into PC World and could not find what I was looking for so asked an assistant. "
"Where are the graphics tablets", the reply in a condescending tone,
"Right behind you" after looking I said,
"No, those are graphic cards" The reply which made me go elsewhere,
" they will probably do the same thing"
Half days do seem extremely old fashioned now. I remember half-day Wednesdays as a child. The local ironmonger carried on with the tradition right up until it closed for good last year.
Buying a laptop in Currys, OH trying to get a good deal as always, asked the salesman if he'd throw in a bag. He said yes. We paid, the guy put the lappy in a placcy carrier bag and said 'There's your bag.' Thanks, a-hole.
I found a brand new Dell lappy bag in a charity shop in Cupar the other week for £3.99 ..labels and all... bargain !
When I worked as a teenager in a shoe shop we closed at 1 pm on Wednesdays. We each then had a morning off where we didn't start till 1 pm to comply with the 5 day working week.
chris said that the red light is on for 16 hours, forget their wages, they must have cleaned up, literally probably.
