Why Are Florida People ***?

I tried to get a job here several times, but would not even get an interview based on the fact I was not born in Florida. I was trying to get further south due to my asthma and inability to cope with the cold. I feel like if the situation were reversed they would want a fair chance to get a job in my state, and not be told oh we can't hire you because you are not a Florida native. O.o

this is a UK site so you probably won't get many useful answers; the only Floridians most people here know are Mickey Mouse and Goofy.
