qualifications in plumbing

I have been pipe fitting/plumbing for nearly 20 years.Now i am looking for new jobs and keep coming up against" what qualifications do you have" .I have heard of a course called "grandad course"where you go to college in the evening and they ascess you and you could obtain an NVQ.Is this correct or am i just lying.Help please.

Anybody can take an NVQ, whether a novice or an experienced trades person. The flexibility of the NVQ qualification enables each individual to progress at a speed appropriate to their own educational and existing skill levels for example you could look into Experienced Worker Route NVQ's, you may be able to get a NVQ through On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT).

I would contact your local college and enquire about relevant courses, and maybe arrange an interview with the course tutor. They should be hapopy and willing to assist you with gaining the appropriate qualifications and steer you in the right direction towards accreditation.
