Family Won’T Allow Me To Get A Job

I am 15. My mother is getting government support here in Canada. She said I could not work because it would take away the help she started getting. But I am under the age of 18 so that should not apply, I asked a few friends to see if they knew something that might help me and someone told me “what if it’s because you are an emigrant?” So Right now I’m extremely confused and searching for an answer, I have tried looking in a few places and then now I’m at my last resort, I looked up places to ask questions and this is one of those places. If you know any information please help
