Hello Guys, I Really Need Some Advice From People Working In The Uk . (Post Brexit) I Am Really Sad And After All The Research I've Done All I'm Left With Is A Lot Of Frustration And Hopelessness.

I am an 18 year old student in Romania, finishing high school in summer.

All of this time, I've been doing my best to get good grades , save money and participate in a lot of Erasmus projects . I've been doing charity work and developing my talent for art , music and languages. I speak three languages at a C1 level and I m very ambitious and hardworking. I've also been babysitting ,painting patterns on walls and selling drawings occasionally.

My dream was to leave this country and go to university in England; because I rely on myself financially, I was happy when I found out I could get a student loan and finally change my life.

After all of this hard work, I've been just punched in the face with Brexit rules. I've researched and researched, and I just feel like there are no options for me anymore. I can't go to Uni, because I don't have enough money even though I've saved so much, and my only other option is to receive a job offer to get a work visa.

My boyfriend of 1 year is British ,and we are just crushed at how little options we have to be together. We considered him coming to me, but it's too expensive for us to pay for his student visa .I don't know how to get a job offer and I don't even know where they would accept a foreigner like me. If I don t get a job offer, I'll have to work in Germany for years to get the money I need to be with my boyfriend and to study, since I don't want to use his money at all.

I don't know what to do, I'm desperate and I have no options. What should I do? How can I get a job offer? Please give me some tips I would really appreciate it.

Velvet - am just thinking - I have a friend who works in Dublin altho her home is in Belfast. At the beginning of the Covid for the past 4 years - she just went to Dublin for 3 days a week to work in a hospital. She loves it. Unfortunately is now working from home (Belfast) but needs to go to Dublin now and again to tidy things up.

I will email her tomorrow and ask her what kind of steps you need to do as in "applying for employment" or anything you can do to try and get into the south of Ireland. Hope I get good news for you.

As you speak such good English you might consider becoming an interpreter. There is quite a sizeable Romanian criminal fraternity in the UK (don't know about Ireland) who need translators when being interviewed by the police or in court. Apparently it pays very well.

I agree. You sound ideal for some kind of interpreting/liaison work with Romanian communities in English-speaking countries whose knowledge of English may be limited.

I didn't forget you Velvet re a response, unfortunately I did ask my friend about yourself and she didn't "know", then unfortunately her son who is a paramedic was blue lighting a patient and another driver crashed into him the weekend I spoke to her.

I do know (like I couldn't do it) but I think hospitals in Eire are crying out for workers.

But I recall my friend saying that people generally say "oh there's no work in the South", she says there's plenty - if you look for it. Mind you she is based in Dublin.

fantastic money in the interpreting business,

I go to a French lady who is my osteopath and a brilliant one at that, however due to Covid out of work at the moment.

But because where I live in Belfast we have loads of stuff to see from The Troubles, murals, buildings etc, she is asked frequently to interpret for the French tourists.
