My OH is trying to set up online self assessment for a friends son. He got as far as verifying identity but hit a wall as the son is only 18 and doesn't have enough docs to do an online ID check. It asked for passport, which he has, mobile contract, other credit, NI driving licence? which he doesn't have, neither does he have a UK driving licence. As he can't provide relevant online documentation, they said they'd send him a code through the post. The only problem being, there was nowhere to add an address, so how will they send a code? And how can we get this set up. Any ideas, Could the address be linked to his UTR number?
Here is the option to download a form, print and post. With the 31st Jan deadline looming, I'd do that way and forget about the code or the online option.
Thanks for your response. I believe he's too late for a postal return so will have to suffer the consequences. His dad is fuming with him as he has been telling him for months to get it sorted out.
