If you work part time, your employer could reasonably expect you to make an appointment during the time you are not at work, so they are not obliged to pay you during your absence. They may elect to pay you as a goodwill gesture, but they have no obligation, so if they do, be grateful, and if not, then you have to bite the bullet.
If they suggest docking your money, offer to make up the time instead - it's a lot easier. No employer I've ever worked for has docked money for hospital or doctor's appointments as I've always offered to make up the time when convenient.
Tell them of your appointment, see what they say and if they mention loss of pay, try and agree to work the time another day. You obviously can't afford to loose money if you are only working p/t.
