If You Have Targets Like Getting More Patients In A Dentist Do You Get Fired?

I'm looking at applying for a dental receptionist position it sounds easy but never really got on with targets and it says there's targets with trying to get more patients, is it targets like sales in a call centre where you get fired if you don't hit them?

Places on a dentist's list are as rare as hens teeth. Rather than recruiting new patients you'll be fighting them off.

It might be linked to pay in that a good ability to hit targets means you get a pay rise or a bonus. If you are afraid of hard work and I am not saying this applies to you it is probably best to avoid target driven employment. I always saw it as a challenge that made work more interesting

I never even knew this was part of a dental receptionist's job. Where I live, there is a waiting list of people trying to be taken on by an NHS Dentist so meeting a target would not be necessary in this case! Good luck anyway.

Many jobs have targets or as we call them objectives and KPI's....you might have a few....there all part of the performance management system. I think you'd have to drive lots a people away to be sacked on that one.

I bet this dental practice is trying to get more private patients, not NHS ones.
My own NHS dentist keeps trying to persuade me that I need treatment not available on the NHS, is no longer accepting NHS patients but is actively recruiting private ones.
NHS dentists only need to have a small percentage of NHS patients

They will tell you what the targets are - I wondered why my dentist receptionist had cold called me, and I can see now it was to pursue a target, in my case order more treatment that costs
