Hi guys,
my life long dream is to become a childrens book illustrator. I've been drawing and painting literally since I was about 2 and, without wanting to sound big-headed, I'm very good!
I'm about three quarters of the way through completing a portfolio. I've been looking on the net at the websites of other illustrators and they all seem to have a thousand degrees in fine art from the very best art colleges etc. I have never been to uni and can't afford to leave my job to go.
Does anyone know if a degree in art is essential to get your work published?
Thanks a lot!
Anna

Universities churn out thousands of people every year who think that a dregree will be their stepping stone to a bright future. Actually TALENT and a drive to succeed is more important and the number of dissapointed post graduates increases year on year.
