Does anyone know how you become an etymologist? Or know any good websites on careers which would explain this?

Either apply for jobs with a dictionary (for which you'll probably need a decent degree), or take the academia route and do a degree in linguistics or some related discipline, then a masters, then a phd and then stay in the university environment...
