School secretaries possess a particular set of administration skills, over and above the standard office duties, so it is quite a specialist job, and again, competition is tough.
I'm not trying to be negative, and wish you all the best, but if you are without experience, i would suggest you look to put Plan B into action sooner rather than later.
An admin job in a school would give you the school holidays, but also consider other non teaching roles in school like Teaching Assistant or Learning Mentor, both quite rewarding.
Also bear in mind that school admin staff sometimes do have to work some of the holidays, especially summer where there is a need to prepare for the new intake of pupils.
I agree with the above though, have a plan B, perhaps a job that is quite flexible in it's working hours or even think about working from home.
If you don't ask you don't get. Approach employers and ask if there are any jobs on offer where you can have school holidays off, unpaid of course. It is a changing employment market now.
I employ several people in retail and one of my employees does not work during the summer months. We have a several university students who work during the summer/Christmas hols etc and then our regular staff and ourselves all plan our holidays around this and it works fine.
Suggest you start asking around; school based jobs are not your only option. You do not know what is available unless you ask.
