yes it is true, but if there is a valid reason she can claim, although the Jobcentre will contact her previous employer to find out the cicumstances or her leaving. If she left for no reason he cant claim JSA but im sure u can claim after a few months. but she should get in contact with the jobcentre and register anyway. they will help her find jobs too and let her know the facts on claiming JSA

hiya jibjab,

i was on jobseekers allowance about 4 years ago. i left my previous job because (a) i was fed up and (b) i was going for lots of interviews so was sure i would get something (how wrong i was). I remember at one point i was told my allowance would stop because they found out i had voluntarily left my last job but after them contacting my old boss and asking me a few questions it was all sorted and i continued to get it no probs.

Hi jib jab, go to www.jobseekerdirect.gov.uk they have a good range of options all over the uk. Good luck, I will be starting my new job on 16th Jan and that is where I found it. Best off luck, cat woman xxx :-)
She should sign on - it's worth it for the National Insurance stamp alone. If she left her last job voluntarily there must be some reason for her doing so - maybe it interefered with training she was doing / it was too far away and there weren't enough hours or pay to warrant the travel? Maybe she was moving house? If she has good reason then it's worth it. Plus, I think there is a time limit set on this, so if she left more than xx weeks ago, she can now sign on. Call the Jobcentre Plus number and they'll do it all over the phone then arrange an interview with her. The website www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk should be a good starting point.

Me and my friend are both 15 and are looking for work in the North London area. Are able to work on Saturdays before 1.30. Would like to work together, in any type of business apart from a dog parlour or dog kennels. If work was available in hairdressers, this would suit perfectly. We are promt and organised.
