I applied for a job and this guy has messaged me on WhatsApp and said the name of the company. He asked me questions like am I male/female, married and said I was stunning and he would arrange an interview with me. Do I respond anymore?

Do I report the vacancy on indeed?

Question Author

I've reported him on WhatsApp

You could do...it might be fake.

Question Author

Done it as no employer would ask other things he asked

This would only happen in the Abbeyverse!!!

When you asked, Do I respond any more? does that mean you'd been having a (text) conversation to start with?

Yep 🙄

Abbey, I thought you said you were quite savvy about social media? Why did you answer the guy in the first place?

Question Author

He messaged to say I applied for one of his vacancies.

And he asked if you were male or female? Didn't he have your application? Did you answer the 'are you married?' question - if so, why? How many times did you respond before he said you were 'stunning'?

Question Author

I didn't respond to married or single I asked about the job.

Thanks, Abbey - I'm relieved you didn't get into a conversation with him!

PS Do you really think anyone would say it's NOT weird to get all those daft, irrelevant questions?

Where do you apply for jobs so that some one can then whatsapp you? Really the mind boggles where you are concerned. Also in the real world employers are not allowed to ask things like are you married etc. Do you seriously not know the answer to your own question?

I suppose 'daft or irrelevant' would depend on the job on offer.

It's a scam, Abbey.  Out of interest, what job did you apply for and was it via WhatsApp?

Question Author

Warehouse worker and on indeed
