I am looking at nee builds and wondered which house plot would you choose from 53 - 58..

(if you had to... as I know some folk are not new build fans). As you can see on the pic parking layout is a bit crazy

The block of house that I live in has some rather odd parking arrangements too.  I actually have a 'swap' arrangement with another houseold but if I do park in my 'official' space, I end up with notes on my windscreen from the people in the house behind me, complaining that I've parked in 'their' space.  (That's despite the housing developer's original plans, together with the Land Registry title plans for both properties, clearly showing that I'm in the right and they're not).

With the possibility of similar disputes in mind in your case, Plot 53 would be attractive to me, as the parking spaces are next to the house.  Further, it's an end terrace (i.e. effectively semi-detached), which tends to be more attractive to buyers when it comes to selling later on.

So that's my choice!

Thanks.  I initially looked past 53 as it has the middle houses bin ally going all round its garden, which reduces the garden size.

The craziest thing Ive seen is with 58 - they have 57 parking in front of them so they have to park across the road :D

55 - end terrace, larger garden, no issue with bins, confused parking allocations or substation access.

De Ja Vue - have we had this conversation before?

55 for me, end terrace, parking out front.

Question Author

Maydup- thanks, year Ive probably mentioned it

alice- thanks, out of interest how come you picked 55 over 56..  55 has a path in front which 56 might take their bin down

I'd go 57, no one else will be sharing your path and you have 2 parking spaces.

56 will be best

Question Author

Tora - they all have 2 parking spaces, its just badly designed. Also some of the gardens if you look have a bin alley going all the way around

I really wouldnt want any of them (nothing to do with being new build I just thing the design is awful.

If pushed it would be 56.

12:58 yes but 57 has 2 and a dedicated path to them.

But in reality I would touch any of them with a barge pole.

Question Author

If you look closely just to add number 57 parks in front of number 58.

yes but 58 parks across some sort of a court yard.

Does the size of the back garden make a difference?

55, end terrace, no reduction to the garden space, path to parking outside the house.

If the grey circles are trees 56 & 57 could have birds crapping on their cars.🤣 (A friend has to park by a tree & his car is a mess.)

so in summary 53, 55, 56 and 57.

Question Author

I don't know why they designed the parking like that really. They have decided to prioritise grass and trees over being able to park in front of your house.

57 parks in front of 58's house.. due to this 58 has been kicked off their drive and has to park on the end.

If they have to make the spaces out of sync to start with then why not have 57 park at the side and let 58 have their drive in front .. rather than inconveniencing both houses lol

Inevitably people will park in front of their own houses which will just cause bad feeling. Whoever gets home last will have to park round the corner. So on that basis I change my mind and chose 53 where the parking is in front of the correct house.
