If you were an art dealer asked to sell the painting pictured in the link how would you know it was a wrong 'un?

Just a bit of fun to exercise  'the little grey cells'.

That frame is from B&M. :0)))

The carriages are driving on the wrong side of the road if it's Paris?

Or is it the Blackpool Tower?

Bottom right of the link is Pornhub!

Question Author

It might be a one way street.

Let's assume it's Paris.  A painting of Blackpool wouldn't attract art connoisseurs.

I know, Sandy, was just my little bit of fun :))

I'm sure Blackpool is lovely.

I thought the carriages were going is opposite directions, but I am often wrong. I like these sort of puzzles,  am completely useless at them!

Hmmmm....sandy's has an additional/larger carriage in the centre of the picture. But I am not sure I would have known that without seeing the one in webbo3's link.

Question Author

Webbo3s painting is similar but not the same.

The frame has no relevance.

I cast no aspersions on Blackpool.  I'm sure it's a lovely place.

sandyRoe - True, but your version seems to be a cut and paste version of several of those shown in webbo3's later link.

Maybe , just maybe, it's not a wrong 'un?

Question Author

Yes.  I think they're all mass produced in China.  And all signed, 'Palsey', which is an old fashioned word for a hand tremor.

There's something incongruous in the image which gives it away.

Woman on mobile 'phone?.......boy on skateboard?......

Anachronistic, incongruous or just poorly executed?

The foremost person in the painting (above the l and s of the name Palsey) appears to have bug eyes and horns growing out of his head? Wish i had a magnifying glass in order to see it better.

I can't find anyone wearing a digital watch either.

The "horns" are the outline of a face/head.

With anachronistic you're getting close.

Street lights?

Wooden wheels on horse drawn carriages, perhaps changed to metal in the late 1800s?

There has never been such a vista toward the Eiffel Tower?
