I have had a quick look at the CRB website as we may start our own company up and I thought it would be a good idea to advertise the fact that we had had this done.

Is there any way of getting it done for yourself, as it states that to get one it has to be requested by the company that wants to employ you.

Is it worth contacting them to ask for one any way?

Any advise appreciated.

This text from the CRB website;

"The current legislation does not allow the self-employed or individuals to apply for a CRB check on themselves. In addition, parents who employ a nanny/au pair/babysitter directly cannot apply for a CRB check; however, if an agency supplies the nanny/au pair/babysitter, the agency is entitled to carry out a CRB check."

Anyone can get a CRB check - it is a requirement to produce one ffor getting, for example, a personal licence to sell alcohol. However, the basic check is only available in Scotland. It may be available online. Check out www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/basic.htm
